DANGER HIPTOP SLIDE
Many people who seen this phone would say
"oh so cool"
"oh so unique"
"ooooh I want it too!!!"
or otherwise it would be
"er too big"
"oh too bulky for me"
and those mountain tortises would say
"huh? what brand is this?"
"what model is that??"
"whats a hiptop phone??"
And today i am going to show you how BULLSHIT this
cool phone can be...
**For the record, the Danger Hiptop Slide is the latest hiptop phone available. It might be different from the older models like Hiptop I, Hiptop II, Hiptop III and Hiptop LX
All the following pictures would be directly taken from my phone, from the first top folder to the last folder available. (well not ALL but most of them)
1st - "BIGPOND CATALOGUE"
Since I am with Telstra, therefore my Catalogue would be "Bigpond" which is the internet connection name under "Telstra"
Do you know that there is NO personal applications available in this phone?
There is NO ALARM CLOCK,
NO CALCULATOR,
NO TORCH,
NO TIMER,
SERIOUSLY!!! Who on earth don't need an alarm clock???
Fear not we can download it all from "Bigpond Catalogue"
BUT guess what????
It cost me $3 AUD for an alarm clock application,
Free for a calculator application
And since i cant use my own songs that are downloaded into this phone in the Mp3 player as a ringtone, I need to download it from this Catalogue, which would cost me $4.95 AUD for each 14 second ringtone.
And also, i can't use my photos taken by my camera for my screensaver,
i need to download something from the Catalogue as a screensaver or else it will just show
TELSTRA (see photo below)
How frigging aweful is that??
But i have yet to have the time to go through every screensaver available to download...
so i have to bear with this for the time being...
hehehe my poopoo called me when i was taking photos of the catalogue folder...
Alright in the "Bigpond Catalogue" folder (sub-folders), there is... ...
The "Downloads" folder that contains sub folders that shows what
ringtones and themes and application i had downloaded.
"Polyphonic ringtones"
that sounds really aweful...
Each polyphonic ringtone cost $3.95 AUD
"Nametones"
A bunch of guys will be singing out your name and asking you to pick up your phone.
Its pretty cool but sadly they do not have my name...
Each nametone cost $3.95 AUD.
The LAMEST folder of all... Seriously if i want to look cool with this phone,
you really think i would want some frigging chicken clucking ringtones???
Or a frigging cow Moooooing for me???
Thats soo aweful...
Each fun sound cost $4.95 AUD
The best folder and of course the most useful ringtone folder of all...
Its always updated with the latest songs... Like example "womanizer" by britney spears!!!
which i have LOL
Sadly each ringtone goes for only 14 seconds...
Each truetones cost $4.95 AUD
Personally I prefer a theme for my phone, therefore i wont need a background...
Its a wallpaper which would also change the colours of your icon's background colour...
Its quite nice when i view some of them, but i don't know if it will affect
each page like a theme does, or if the theme would be the dominant one on each page...
Each background cost $2.95 AUD
My favourite folder of all...
As you can see, I have a "pink blooms" theme, and they look like blossoming
Sakura flowers... in pink black and hue of white... (see "PHONE")
Each theme cost $5 AUD
I call it the money sucking folder...
I will list out some of the commonly used applications and the cost...
- My Space = $5 AUD
- Alarm Clock = $3 AUD
- Flashlight = $3 AUD
- Calculator that has 2 function with standard and RPN modes = $5 AUD
- Converter (measurments, currency, etc) = $7 AUD
And of course all the other extras...
The cheapest application is $3 AUD and the dearest one is $12 AUD
"Games"
A folder you will never see me visit...
There's tons of games in there for downloading if you are one of those who love
playing games on your phone...
Cheapest game cost $3 AUD and there's only 2 games that cost that amount
Dearest game is $7 AUD
and the rest are $5 AUD
2nd - "WEB BROWSER"
This is where I go to, to check my hotmails, friendster, ebay etc...
This is how it looks like when i select the Web Browser...
3rd - "EMAIL"
My hiptop email is fooconnie@hiptop.com.au
so if you like you can send me an email to my phone, i don't think i can view attachments.
This is how my hiptop email folder looks like...
Usually there are tons of emails from joanna, but i cleared them out already...
4th - "INSTANT MESSENGING"
MSN and Yahoo messenger
"MSN"
Sorry about the crookedness... Just a bit tired taking pictures lol...
And i could'n give two shits on taking a new one... So this will do just fine...
Just under Hancheng's and above Chuncheng's
hummmm suss...
LOL !!
I can't show Yahoo since i don have a Yahoo messenger account.
5th - "PHONE"
This is where i type phone number to store.
I don't neccesarily need to go here in order to type a phone number,
i can just type it and it will enter it's sub folder (picture below)
Oh not forgetting to take a look at the theme i have... isn't it beautiful???
aaahhhh so prettyyy...
You can choose to enter numbers with your scrolling ball
OR........
You can just use the Qwerty pad to enter your numbers...
6th - "PHONE MESSAGING"
The MMS sub-folder
The SMS sub-folder
hehehe as u can see i have a sms from my poopoo
You don't need to select a sms to read, but of course if the message is too long,
you would need to select it to read the whole thing...
7th - "ADDRESS BOOK"
Sadly i have only 30 contacts because there's really no point putting in
all the contacts i have since i cant really use this phone plan to call or sms overseas...
i will mention about the Hiptop plan later on...
Very simple address book...
You need to select the name you want to call with your scrolling ball before hitting the green 'call button' otherwise you will be only scrolling up and down with your red and green calls button...
And if you like to edit your friend's profile just click edit and a whole list of things you can edit will show...
8th - "PLANNING"
its like a planner.... DUH... lol
You can view your calendar like this to make notes
OR.......
You can view it in a monthly calendar
OR.....
You can view it in a yearly calendar
Big WHoop!!
I still don't understand why would someone build in notes and task but not
alarm clock....
"To-Do"
You know tasks and all....
9th - "CAMERA"
The camera function is not very good, its only 1.3 megapixel...
You would think Danger Inc would make phones that would catch up with the technology nowadays....
My picture folder...
Full screen mode
10th - "SONIC BOOM"
Honestly songs don't BOOM on this phone.....
My miserable 54 songs...
I have a 2Gb microcard installed, and i regretted it...
Really no point buying a 2 Gb when your camera can't take
good pictures, or when your songs don't 'boom' as well as the other
Sony ericsson's walkman phone...
"Mini player"
you can use this function on any page to control your songs
I control the volume of sonic boom with the same buttons i use to switch
sound profiles... (see below)
They are pretty similiar
11th - "GAMES"
The game that comes with the phone is sooo lame...
When i first played it, immediately i was like "WTH??"
This is that lame game....
Played it once and thats all....
Lastly "APPLICATIONS"
remember previously i mention about my alarm clock and calculator?
yeah i downloaded these two.... i need them... so i have no choice...
My precious precious alarm clock...
Isn it cute?? Six cute little boxes for your alarm...
The "timer" slots are identical to the ones of the alarm...
So i wont bother to show them since they look IDENTICAL
"Stop watch"
So cool to see '0' and '1' merging together
Le "Calculatrice"
And it looks like...
Pretty cool... Looks very stylish compare to the typical
calculator you get from other phones...
With the calculator, it comes with a
"Bill Splitter"
so anytime you have dinner with someone you want to go on dutch with,
just whip out your handy dandy BILL SPLITTER!!!!
Qwerty board
To me they are the perfect size... although prolong usage of the Qwerty board
could confuse me when i use my laptop...
The back of the phone slide up...
oh the colour of my phone is blue, well some people say its purple, and i honestly
think they need their eyes checked for colour blindness...
It also comes in scarlet red.
i really cant be bothered to take another photo of my phone so, you can imagine
how it looks like when closed...
This phone is lock to Telstra when i bought it, i was so determined to unlock the phone but than
i asked MOTOROLA if i can use the phone with another SIM card after unlocking,
Guess what?
You can!! BUT you would not be able to access the internet functions even if you were to use a Telstra SIM card, because it needs to be a 'Hiptop plan' SIM card...
So sad... imagine a singaporean who owns this phone... that person would NOT
be able to download themes and ringtones and such, but to use their default ringtones and some other corny tones and themes...
SO SAD...
and now....
PLAN COST
There's one happy thing about the Hiptop...
The Hiptop plan costs $30 AUD a month
it has UNLIMITED sms throughout australia ONLY
UNLIMITED internet access.
It would be expensive to make calls on this plan and it is not included in this plan.
All extra charges on calls will be added onto your $30 plan/month
Free incoming calls
All downloaded items from "Bigpond Catalogue" will be added onto your monthly bill.
The Hiptop Slide phone cost $768 AUD over a 24 month payment
and it will cost $600 ++ AUD upfront
So if you are a person who lives in australia and texts a hell lot, it would be the best plan to go for...
I intend to bling my phone after i get sick and tired of the look... hahaha...
I have already called Motorola to ask if i am still under warranty if i bling my phone...
And the answer is YES! As long as i don't have any glue seeping into the phone,
it would be absolutely fine...
At least i don't need to live with one look for my whole two years... lol

"How do i answer the calls from your phone?"
Just put your ear to the part where its circled in pink, and the
part where you speak into is pointed at by the pink arrow...
You will be amazed how many people don't know where to put their frigging ears....
Finally.... i finished blogging about my phone....
